Our Goal at Bethel Church Choctaw
In short, “Love, Learn, Grow, Go”.
We are passionate about the call to “make disciples of all the nations” (Matt. 28:19) and training people in the church to go and make an eternal impact outside the church. We want to change our culture to an outward focused, God first culture – not just in word but in action. These four verbs are a great process to that goal.
Love – Most of the Bible points to this “Godly” kind of love – to receive it and to give it.
John 3:16 – “For God so loved the world…”
Matthew 22:36-40 – The two greatest commandments is about loving God and loving others.
All of this, is due to love. “Father, please teach us how to love more like You.”
Learn – Never stop learning. Continue to seek. Read the Bible inductively. Seek wisdom! Learn more about God, His Spirit, and the impact of having Him living within you. Learn who you are in Christ and who God desires you to become.
Learn to believe more about what God thinks of you, than what you think of yourself.
Learn about how to serve with boldness. What is our top responsibility as Christians?
Proverbs 3:13 - How blessed is the man who finds wisdom And the man who gains understanding.
Grow - Be willing to change and grow and understand things in a new light. Do not be satisfied with simply attending church and just getting into heaven. Grow spiritually. Learning is good and necessary, but growing requires “doing” as well. Anything that is growing – is changing.
James 1:22 - But prove yourselves doers of the word, and not merely hearers who delude themselves.
2 Corinthians 4:16 - Therefore we do not lose heart, but though our outer man is decaying, yet our inner man is being renewed day by day.
Go – This is an easy one, or at least it should be. Prayerfully, the church will never forget the “great commission” or as I call it - our main responsibility as sons and daughters of our Father God. Go, preach the gospel, the good news, the love and sacrifice of God for all of us!
Matthew 28:19-20 - Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you [f]always, even to the end of the age.
Mark 16:15 - And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.
Romans 10:14 - How then will they call on Him in whom they have not believed? How will they believe in Him whom they have not heard? And how will they hear without a preacher?
“Take with you the ability to impact people, everywhere you go.”
